Dear readers,
Beautifully glowing cheekbones? Who doesn't want that right? Well, maybe some people prefer to stay away from highlighters, which is totally okay, BUT I personally am a massive fan of highlighters. I have been loving using them as long as I remember. My first makeup purchase ever might have been a highlighter, I cannot really recall but it is either that or a lipstick. I am a die-hard fan of blinding highlighters (I swear by the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter and the Jeffree Star products). But as I was stuck for 5 years in Korea (thanks to the lovely Corona virus), I turned to Korean beauty products to find a new favourite highlighter and dare I say I have found a few that made my heart beat stop.
My recommendations for Korean Highlighters:
Best Overall: Colorgram Milk Bling Heartlighter ($8)
Best Stick Highlighter: Hince True Dimension Radiance Balm ($16)
Most Loved by Koreans: Clio Prism Highlighter ($14)
Best Packaging: LilyByred Luv Beam Glow Veil ($8)
Best Range: Fwee Glitz Stone Highlighter ($14)
Best Rare Beauty Dupe: The Saem Glam Perfection Baked Highlighter ($14)
1. Best Overall: Colorgram Milk Bling Heartlighter

Rating: 5 / 5
Award: Glowpick 2023/2022
Highlights:
Cute compact packaging
Pigmented
Creamy formula
Long-lasting
Romantic finish
Comes in 8 shades
What we don’t like:
Little product quantity
We shall start this review with the cutest heart-stamped highlighter on the Korean market, or perhaps the universe? Do not hold its size against him, because the Colorgram Milk Bling Heartlighter is so so so smooth and creamy, much like the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze And Glow. That it feels like you are applying a serum on your skin. The particles are extremely fine so you can actually use this highlighter in whichever way you may like to add a stunning 3D effect to your glam. It is fallout-free, smudge-proof, cruelty-free and long-lasting. This super small highlighter is perfect for on-the-go touch-ups for a luminous and romantic radiant finish, or for an ultra glam look. If you are short of gift ideas for your friends, loved ones, or else, this highlighter is a perfect choice for it.
2. Best Stick Highlighter: Hince True Dimension Radiance Balm

Rating: 4 / 5
Highlights:
Multi-purpose
Dewy glow finish
Not caky
Handy application
Subtle finish
What we don’t like:
Just one shade for highlighter
May be too subtle
This one is for the "clean girls". I am not sure why the Hince True Dimension Radiance Balm didn't go viral worlwide as the first or final step of the "clean girl" makeup look because it is THE definition of glow. It is basically glow in a tiny tube. Best to apply it by first melting the product with your fingertips and then watch you skin turns into a mirror, or shall I rather say, a mermaid. It is supposedly inspired by the glistening reflection of water and the translucent hue of seashells. This product helps you turn into the half-fishy Disney princess you dreamt of as a little girl, without the smell of it. If this translucid, radiant glow is something you are looking for, it also comes in blushes shades that are just lovely.
3. Most Popular in Korea: Clio Prism Highlighter

Rating: 3 / 5
Award: Glowpick 2023/2022
Highlights:
Lightweight
Long-lasting
Fine micro glitter particles
Moisturizing formula
Buildable
What we don’t like:
A tad too subtle to my taste
Glitters
Limited shade range
Best seller for years and still present on the market, though everytime a little bit repackaged, the Prism Highlighter has been a Clio's top seller for years (if not decades). It does lean more towards the glittery side rather than the shimmer side in my opinion. Knowing how fond the Koreans are of glitters, it only makes sense that this best-seller contains some, unlike the other highlighters mentioned above. So needless to say it falls last on my ranking solely because of that point. I find glitters to be less flattering on my skin compared to shimmers. Furthermore, shades range exists; gold sheer for warm undertones skin and fairly pink for cool undertones skin. Clio also came up with a duo highlighter paletter (cool and warm tones, $14) in one palette. Another negative point that I must raise here is the formula lightweight-ness. I do enjoy a good blinding yet natural highlighter. But for those who prefer a buildable texture, then this is for you.
4. Best Packaging: LilyByred Luv Beam Glow Veil

Rating: 2.5 / 5
Highlights:
Subtle finish
Pearly look
Not caky
Beautiful heart packaging
What we don’t like:
Too pearly
Not long lasting, glows disapears quickly
Another loved highlighter by Koreans is the Lilybyred Luv Beam Glow Veil. Despite my dislike for the short longevity and the overly pearly finish that I find makes me 20 years younger (not a great thing), I still wanted to add this product as it is a top-seller in Korea for many years. The formula is pretty smooth and blends in very well on the skin but the color payout cannot be enhanced with layering. Hence, it doesn't last for a very long time.
5. Best Range: Fwee Glitz Stone Highlighter

Rating: 4 / 5
Highlights:
Wide color range (12 shades)
Long-lasting
Fine micro glitter particles
Moisturizing formula
Buildable
Original packaging
What we don’t like:
Small quantity
Glittery finish
I discovered Fwee when it launched in Korea back in 2021 with their first cream blushes that has since been discontinued, but I clearly remember swatching the product and being mesmirized by the intensity of the color. And let me tell you, Koreans love to do blushes above anything else, so it is safe to say I had tried a few dozens (if not thousands) of different blushes consistencies, colors and else. So I am happy to say that this Fwee Giltz Stone Highlighter really encompensates all of the great qualities I listed above. Interesting fact about this product is that the 12 shades refer to the 12 zodiac signs/12 months. The dazzling and sparkling shades are very unique, from purple to green through dark blue, you will find a shade you like. I am personally not a fan of the glitter finish in a highlighter but the formula is quite smooth and pigmented, sorts of counter balance the negative remark.
6. Best Rare Beauty Dupe: The Saem Glam Perfection Baked Highlighter

Rating: 4.0 / 5
Highlights:
Shimmery natural finish
Sheer glow
Moisturizing formula
Silky baked pressed texture
Good quality packaging
What we don’t like:
Not as good as the Rare Beauty one but very close
